This weekend, Jaywalking does not refer only to a lame Leno bit.

So I'm in Los Angeles. There's a Trader Joe's and a lot of driving. An obscene amount.

Apparently, jaywalking's a big no go here. A friend here advised me that his roommate received a $200 summons for jaywalking recently.

I ran across Venice Blvd in Culver City this afternoon, only to have two onlookers I left behind at the curb say, "Oh my God," to my display of impatience for oncoming traffic and that stupid hand.

I have every intention of continuing my acts of civil disobedience.

Everyone needs a hobby.

You know what they say: first they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they ticket you, then you pay $200.

The letters in my "captcha" are QEUAG, which is what the jaywalking duck said when he was hit by a truck.

Mitch Hedberg discovered that ducks eat for free at Subway. Ducks aren't responsible for the $200 fine, either.

So the duck probably had it coming.

I always thought "jaywalking" was simply a slang term used to teach little children to always cross at the green. I am from NYC but currently live in LA and I feel a jaywalking ticket is the stupidest thing in the world..and a constitutional violation. Well anyone from NYC knows that if you didn't cross the street when no cars were coming (regardless of light color or walk signs)..that you would get ran over by the pedestrians behind you..who would be wondering why on earth you didn't cross when no cars were coming..you know we got things to do today and not just stand on a sidewalk waiting to cross when any moron can see no cars are coming.

Driving is a privilege..but I always assumed walking on the public earth was a right. So if I ever get a ticket for jaywalking, I would fight it big time. I am a grown up now..I know how to look both ways to check if any cars are driving on a road before I would cross it. Sure, if I got hit it would be my fault..but so would if I jumped out of a window..and would that make anyone feel better??
